Thank you for using SpotClock (“the App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. Your privacy is critically important to us, and we have designed SpotClock to be as private as possible.
1. Information We Collect
We collect a very limited amount of information, only what is necessary to provide the core functionality of the App.
- Location Data: When you start a parking timer, we ask for your permission to access your device’s location (latitude and longitude). This information is used only to save your parking spot so you can find your way back to your vehicle. We may also convert these coordinates into a human-readable address (e.g., “123 Main St”) for your convenience. This location data is stored only on your device.
- User-Provided Information: You may optionally add notes to your parking sessions (e.g., “Zone 4B”). This information is also stored only on your device.
- Purchase Information: SpotClock uses Apple’s in-app purchase system for “SpotClock Pro” subscriptions. We do not collect or have access to your payment information (like credit card numbers). We only receive verification from Apple that you have an active subscription, which is used to unlock Pro features.
- Anonymous Usage Data (Analytics): To help us improve the App, we may collect anonymous, non-personal information about how you use it. This includes data like which features are used most often, app crashes, and performance data. This information cannot be used to identify you personally.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide Core App Functionality: Your location data and notes are used to create your parking timer, display your car’s location on a map, and show your parking history.
- To Send Notifications: With your permission, we use the Apple Push Notification service to send you alerts when your parking timer is about to expire.
- To Improve the App: Anonymous usage data helps us understand what is working, fix bugs, and build a better experience for you.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your personal data (location, notes, history) is stored locally and securely on your own device.
It is not transmitted to or stored on any external servers that we control. This means we cannot see or access your parking history or location data. The security of your data is handled by your device’s own operating system. If you delete the App from your device, all associated data is permanently removed.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with third-party companies for their marketing purposes.
The only instances where data may be shared are:
- With Apple: To provide map and location services, your device may send location data to Apple to process reverse-geocoding requests (turning coordinates into an address). This is subject to Apple’s own Privacy Policy.
- As Required By Law: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid request from a law enforcement agency.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You are in full control of your data.
- Location Services: You can enable or disable location services for SpotClock at any time through your device’s Settings menu. If you disable it, we will not be able to automatically save your parking location.
- Notifications: You can manage push notifications for SpotClock through your device’s Settings menu.
- Data Deletion: You can delete any parking session from your history at any time from within the App. Deleting the App from your device will erase all of its data.
6. Children’s Privacy
SpotClock is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
